Rochelle Canteen is another obvious one to go on the list. The setting is so beautiful, the food is really great and the folk are grand. It’s just a wonderful place.
A lovely Sunday morning may very well begin with a bag of croissants from either Maison Bertaux in Soho or, closer to home and bought that morning, from E5 Bakehouse and quite possibly a fair few other baked goodies. More than likely picking up a coffee from Climpson’s on the way there and back again. Replete, a walk through Haggerston Park to Rochelle Canteen for lunch is ever a welcome thought, or into Soho for vermouth at The French House prior to a Manhattan skyline of baskets of dim sum.

Rochelle Canteen. I love the ethos. I like the tent outside. Margot is just the don as well.

The River Cafe and Rochelle Canteen are top of the list at the moment. Lunch at Rochelle and a lunch or early evening at The River Cafe are two of my favourite things in London.
chef-patron of Spring · on Gentleman's Journal
Rochelle Canteen at the Institute of Culinary Arts is also really great. It opened last year and the menu changes quite frequently, but what I like about it the most is the simplicity of the food – it’s just properly delicious and very real and accessible.
